After his recent excellent compilations of 'Science Fiction Dancehall Classics’ On-U Sound and his ‘Metal Dance’ series for Strut, and his multi-edition album release ‘F O R M A T’, Trevor Jackson has put together 9 limited edition vinyl-only EPs of his Playgroup project.

Perhaps taking the name as an ode to the short lived Adrian Sherwood/Cherry Red studio band, Trevor Jackson’s Playgroup has been his outlet for electro and house orientated productions since the early 2000’s. On the newfound Yes Wave label he collects previously unreleased tracks and spills them over nine 12”s.

“Inspired by the hedonistic early days of house, disco, post punk, electro and dub, these tracks reflect a unique moment in time”, explains Trevor. “The emergence of underground club culture in New York, London, Chicago, Paris and Northern Italy was driven by pioneering DJ’s playing a wildly diverse soundtrack to a passionate, dance driven and open minded audience. It was a sensory overload of chemicals, bass, smoke, sweat, sex and danger; a testament to the non-air conditioned, non-i-Phone infested and non- corporate clubbing days of yore.”
