For fans of the dub techno label Chain Reaction, the lone 12 inch by mysterious Japanese artist Shinichi Atobe was somewhat of a holy grail. Recently reissued by Demdike Stare, alongside a double LP of previously unheard studio recordings, the producer has gathered a whole new era of fans, all collectively captivated by his unique take on house and techno music. It’s not an everyday occurrence that you can truly hear the heart and soul of an individual being channelled through this style of music, but with the productions on World we feel this to be a testimony to Atobe’s sonic vision. Dubbed out, shimmering and vast is the world in which tracks such as 3 and 4 are plucked from, and we owe it all to the tireless efforts of the DDS crew for tracking down the man behind them.
