Those familiar with the delicate, yearning side of Alvin Curran's pioneering work with electronics may be slightly surprised to hear Natural History, especially considering it comes just one year after his 'Canti Illuminati' masterpiece. Originally issued on cassette, the Black Truffle label have lovingly resurrected this slight anomaly in Curran's back catalogue and brought it into the world as a limited vinyl press. His manipulation of field recordings from his vast archive make up the two long-form compositions on Natural History, scored for the likes of foghorns, construction sites, insects and children's toys over a twenty year period, the music bears more than a slight similarity to English maverick Basil Kirchin's Worlds Within Worlds album.
