Having your first ever solo record released on a label like Domino is no mean feat, but that’s exactly what Sam Coomes has achieved with the fuzzy dream pop of Bugger Me. Citing influence from Alan Vega’s Suicide, The Beach Boys and soul crooner Timmy Thomas, it’s a surprise that the work sounds so modern. Though it’s Coomes’ first solo outing, he’s been writing music since the late 90s as one half of Quasi.
