Skudge return to the album format with the first extended session from the group in five years. Composed of twelve tracks, Balancing Point finds the duo on a very stripped back tip in the vein of Robert Hoods best work, stripped back techno that is both deeply effective and deadly.

Following the prime techno ideal of making an album ( bangers with a handful of ambient tracks to break things up a bit) Balancing Point plays out more like a double EP pack than a home listening album as such, however this does not take away from the fact that each of the drum trax are some of the strongest, most well-tuned sounds this side of Detroit.

From torque acid bangers such as Air walk and Anode to more mournful pieces such as Polar and Falling, Balancing Point finds Skudge while still focusing in on the dub techno sounds of Berlin they show a more heavy heart approach to the techno they produce, a sound drifting towards the early work of Carl Craig and The Black Dog. Time will tell, but Balancing Point could be one of the very best releases in the SKudge catalogue yet.
