Genres

Named after an old world Indian Kingdom, located at the southernmost tip of the Indian sub-continent, suitably Travancore returns to the Old Habits imprint with eleven eerie-cum-distorted cuts of electronica made for afterhours listening. ‘Alpha Love’ finds burgeoning synths puff out the ether, while phased percussive elements chug along difficultly, as if ready to desist their noise. Elsewhere ’67 Moons’ obviously has a spacey feel about it, with chords lines bleeping in and out of the fore. And electronics making communicative gurgles. Closing out with the eeriest of the bunch, ‘Outpost’ is a slow and bumbling track that could easily fall into the trip-hop bracket. The hi-hats bang lightly but the synths bloom fully and it is within those sounds that the tracks character is really felt.
