Brand new 12" from Floating Points following his 2015 EOY chart-topping debut LP Elaenia. Not one to do things by halves, Kuiper is a monumental eighteen-minute kosmiche drumfunk disco cut that gets a full side of wax, and here backed up with brand new downtempo library track titled For Marmish Part II.

Kuiper is a firm fave among those who have witnessed Floating Points' recent live sets, a heady mix of live drumming and analogue synth jams with the FX turned up high, splashing forth waves of colour that pop a pair of shades on the track and give it a cool as fu*k solid Sun-Ra indebted sound. This is all underlined by a raw, driving motorik narrative steering it through its eighteen-minute duration, keeping you locked in a jazz-trance till the end of the tunnel.

For Marmish Part II is the post-gig unwind, moving more in the direction of Morricone style soundtracking, its richly layered structure glistens with an exotic luxury that places it in the shelf space between Mala, Kamasi Washington and TAPES.
