The fourth release on PAN sublabel CODES comes from Brussels-based SKY H1, following her collaborations with Bala Club and Creamcake: with the Belgian producer’s Motion EP, the imprint helmed by Visionist further establishes itself as a reliable source for fresh material from within the realms of new grime, ambient and electronica. Deeply personal, the EP reflects SKY H1’s emotional journey grieving a loss, but anyone expecting all bleakness and darkness would be misguided: while the fluid, yet weighty trance synths on ‘I Think I Am’ of course suggest a certain intensity, the breezier structure of ‘Hybrid’ with its sparkly choral synths gives rise to hope, bursting with colour and positivity.
