The name Teo Macero might not ring a bell, especially amongst younger music fans, but he was perhaps the most prolific record producer to ever work with Miles Davis throughout his lifelong career. This compilation, unearthed by the always brilliant Light in the Attic, features a load of previously unreleased studio recordings by the legendary Betty Davis, produced by Macero and Davis together! Predating the jazz rock element of Bitches Brew, this unheard session pinpoints the exact moment Davis introduced Miles (the pair were briefly married) to the music of Jimi Hendrix and the psychedelic counter-culture. Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience features on drums, and Herbie Hancock and Hugh Masekela appear on the LP too. Recommended not only as a piece of musical history but also as a great well rounded listen with plenty longevity!
