Since her early 80’s LPs for Mimi Johnsons Lovely Music label, Pauline Oliveros has been a pioneering force in experimental composition and innovative musical techniques. Crafting harmonic yet eerily counter-intuitive sounding pieces for accordion, and often utilising voice and tape manipulation, she is the founder of the ‘deep listening’ group and has developed customised systems for producing new sounds from traditional accordions. This new work, comprised of two long form orchestral compositions, takes previous live performances with Belgian group Musiques Nouvelles and puts them into a studio context. Frequent collaborator Ione provides wild vocal accompaniments reminiscent of Catherine Jauniaux!
