Treading similar lines to his previous house jams on Hotflush, Paul Woolford returns to the label with another epic workout. Equipped with classy violins and delicately pulsating hi-hats, ‘Mother & Child’ trots along nicely, reminiscent in ways to Joy O and Boddika’s ‘TMTT’ from last year, though the breakdown comes and it signature Woolford. A well echoed melody, claps hanging heavy in reverb and it keeps going and going until those violins come back and all the tension just lifts like the first hint of hedonism after an arduous working week. ‘Mother & Child divided’ is a beatless version and is all the more pretty for it.
