Damn fine new comp –what else do we expect?- from Soul Jazz. Here we trek to the largely uncharted sonic terrain of Venezuela. During a tumultuous period, the 1970s saw the birth of a new generation of musicians including Vytas Brenner, Angel Rada, Pablo Schneider and Miguel Angel Fuster, who took rock as their base but muddied the waters with heavy synth power, funk, jazz and Latin rhythms colliding sensually, electrically, with Venezuelan roots music. Forward-thinking in its approach, this canon looked to the future whilst also drawing on the country’s rich musical heritage. You will never have heard this music before; a riotous, psychedelic collection of outernational Kosmische awaits those brave souls who enter!
