Wildflower is finally here. This follow up album to the Avalanches' Since I Left You released back in the new millennium, is not a mirage, it is here bursting at the seams with samples and collaborations, that will help you understand why it could have possibly taken so long to release this near mythical album. With guests that vary from Warp's own Danny Brown, MF Doom, Camp Lo, Warren Ellis, Biz Markie, Toro y Moi, Father John Misty and Jonathan Donahue, it is a rich tapestry of samples, genres, moods and feelings, that takes you time traveling on a magic carpet ride through the sonic world that is The Avalanches.

With lead single launching off with Frankie Sinatra, we are immediately transported to a calypso carnival where where MF Doom is the ring master and Danny Brown is serving you slushies spiked with vicoden. Subways takes you back in to the bright sun shine, with samples from Chandra's "Subways" and Graham Bonnet's version Bee Gees' "Warm Ride" creating a soundtrack to an impossibly happy Sesame Street block party, while Colours lifts us up in to the clouds of tangerine dreams with Mercury Rev’s Jonathan Donahue at the helm weaving us backwards and forwards towards a hazy world of psychedelia.

With 16 years in the making, Wildflower is not stuck in the past with their debut that blew us away so long ago, it embraces time, harvesting the sounds of the 21st century to create an album that takes us in to a parallel universe that is full of positive vibes and nostalgia, far away from the planet that we are on today.
