English indie rockers and Domino favourites Wild Beasts prepare a new album full of songs that engage with mans inner animal, according to front man Hayden Thorpe. With each track centring largely around his vocals and lyrics like ‘no getting it right, no getting it wrong, just getting it on’ it’s hard to refute his claim. The synth lines and electric guitars that underpin Thorpe’s pitch-shifting singing voice essentially serve as background material for him to loudly recount past tales of genital yearning. The group manage to keep these sentiments going over eleven new tracks, including the bonus ‘Boy King Trash’, but the playing is tight and there is a definite appeal to be found here for fans of Prince or even the White Stripes (it sounds weird, we know!).
