Markee Ledge, previously of Kosheen fame, comes through on the mighty Tempa with a trio of speaker wobblers for his debut release on the label. Inspired by the network created by escaped slaves in America, Ledge includes vocal snippets of Malcom X denouncing ‘400 Years is Long Enough’ on the title track. Sat atop taut drum work, it makes for a rudimentary and effective club stomper. B-side ‘Mad’ has a more skippy techno aura to it. Built on well-tempered bass pressure, brushing hi-hats and syncopated block hits, again with political willed vocals entering the scape on occasion. ‘Dream’ works on a similar tip to ‘Mad’, with the same pressured bassline, but swung hats come in and give it a movement stiff.
