First time ever collaborative recordings from drone legend Fennesz and avant-garde favourite Jim O’Rourke operating as a duo, recorded in Kyoto, September 2015. Comprised of two side long pieces to ensure maximum aural dissociation, this new release on Editions Mego sees the pair explore the outer realms of experimental guitar playing and modular synthesis. Epic 20 minute long b-side ‘Wouldn’t Wanna Be Swept Away’ evokes imagery of some remote coastline paradise battling against the approaching tide in the dead of winter night, while ‘I Just Want You To Stay’ hits a more melancholic spot, with even the balls -out wall of noise segments managing to feel warm and assuring. Both sides fully recommended.
