Big, bad and rowdy, with everything sounding just a lil bit louder. Lamont makes his debut on Swamp81 sublabel, 81, with a pair of knockout tunes. The sub-bass tones on ‘Titanic’ hit hard and stay hard, though it’s the inimitable pad noise which really defines its status as a banger. The whooshing elements ramp up the tension, while the pitch-bent hi-hats ramp it into hyperdrive. ‘Eyes Closed’ is built on angry string stabs and well-spaced percussion that incorporates an array of differing hits. A barely comprehensible, typically Swamp sounding vocal loop intersperses itself throughout.
