Belgian techno heavyweight Peter Van Hoesen inaugurates fresh Dekmantel spin-off series UFO with the Quadra EP. The title track sees the Time To Express boss in all-out command of the ‘floor, gradually building over crisp machine-drilled percussion into an arsenal of searing, life-affirming synth arpeggios, whilst ‘Cartesian Taiko’ expands over a jittery bed of croaks and crooks whilst the 808 toms kick hard in the background. Building still, ‘P2ME’ unleashes the peak-time roll full bore, engineered for the most hardened dance floors and replete with plenty of industrial details, followed by the more abstracted, Dozzy-tinged mind warp of ‘Duet Dub’.
