Modern Silence complete the June 2016 trilogy of essential Stockhausen reissues with this handsome production of the 1958–60 recording, Kontakte. Made at at the WDR electronic-music studio in Cologne with the assistance of Gottfried Michael Koenig), this he composition exists in two forms: (1) for electronic sounds alone, designated "Nr. 12" in the composer's catalogue of works, and (2) for electronic sounds, piano, and percussion. Both are presented here in all their scholarly intensity. A music that still sounds vital, and remains highly influential in concept and sonics.
