Klaas Hübner is a sound artist in the truest sense of the term. On SOG, the Berlin-based composer fashions music of eerie beauty from unusual sources and in unusual ways. Opener ‘single tube’, for example, is a recording of Hübner swinging a whirly tube around his head. Sounds lightweight? Just give it a listen - it’s a haunting and affecting piece. Similarly ‘chateau poulet’ creates an uncanny atmosphere by attaching more tubes to some spinning ceiling fans. SOG is a unique record whose practice backs up its theory.
