Necro Deathmort press the flesh on The Capsule, a clenched jaw session of doom-metal spliced with with razor-sharp DNB atmospheres and motorik oil-soaked techno akin to a drone session round Autechre's. Bleeding influence from their newly found home of Rocket Recordings more traditional psych roster, The Capsule's eight tracks strip back their deathly sound to a raw greyscale but brimming with snowblind psychedelia. Opening with In Waves, Necro set a sprawling post-punk drum beat into motion that's akin to a sludgy Silent Servant production, gory snatches of dread vocals and some tantalizing synth work set the pace perfectly for what awaits in the shadows. Mixing between hollowed out passages and more drum heavy runners, First Rays strips back the beats in favour of a more heavy eyelids vision while Moonstar distills some ace Cut Hands cut up percussion over a raw techno roll. The choking Capsule Sickness blends dagger like rain over a propelling gravestone groan.

Vibe-wise it's a heavy LP, but thankfully it's not all doom and gloom though, Crux is a melodic frostbitten array of tranquility that breaks up the relentless flow of the LP before Mono/Serum drags the LP back to its core bone-smashing behaviour. Ending the evening, Pecklyn and Screens close out the record with a dead-eyed stare. By mixing in elements of Coil-like industrial and Blackest Ever techno with their signature metal sound Necro have crafted something more sludgy and thick with smoke than the rest of the crowd of collar up an out in the cold post-punk techno-units. We are only a few listens in but we reckon The Capsule is an LP to be returned to time and time again, just watch you don't slip in the pool of blood as you enter.
