Following an appearance at the Lapsus festival, two of the UK’s gloomiest acts grace the imprint with a boundary-challenging split EP with Martin Jenkins’ Pye Corner Audio and Blackest Ever Black duo Dalhous sharing the spoils on the Run For The Shadows EP. Pye Corner Audio takes the A-side, arousing some eerie spirits with the simmering pulsations and rising drones of ‘Stream Four’, whilst ‘The Simplest Equation’ turns inside for a plodding, introspective slow burner replete with epic, dark melodic chords. Dalhous’ B-side pieces are more abstract, first with the twisted abyss of ‘The Essential Wandered’, which deploys lonely, early Warp-esque melodies over a clunky rhythmic detritus, whilst ‘Another Witnessed by Resolution’ plays out over a lonely expanse, giving the feel of the fading melancholic memory.
