Subtext moves further into the realms of abstract soundtracks with the cinematic recordings from the Istanbul-based artist Cevdet Erek. Frenzy is the soundtrack to the Turkish political thriller of the same name and features two long-form pieces of gut-wrenching noise. The first track reaches out its claws and scratches away a five-minute adrenalin rush of harsh mechanical techno with a thunderous direction. The second piece is the calm after the storm, a low audible groan of gravelly texture that slowly loudens as the track unfolds.
