Purple Tape Pedigree is a New York label who, in a very short space of time, have put out excellent records from the likes of Bala Club’s Endgame, DJ NJ Drone, and Her Records pair CYPHR and MM. From The Womb is Celestial Trax’s second EP on PTP following last year’s Ride Or Die and a series of EPs on Rinse. This is dark, transgressive, abstract club music with stunning sound design throughout. ‘Together’ kicks things off with martial drums, ice cannon synths and a segment which honestly sounds like the universe folding itself into a tiny ball and disappearing forever. On a similar tip, ‘Bleed Wiv Me’ imagines what it might sound like if the planets could communicate with each other. Celestial Trax clearly understands that silence can be golden – it’s wielded with devastating effect in the closing ‘Bodily’, which rounds off this bold EP in ethereal style.
