Hamburg’s Lawrence pays homage to one of Tokyo’s finest urban pastures with his Yoyogi Park LP, making for the third and final part of a trilogy of ambient-laced techno albums for Toshiya Kawasaki’s favoured Mule imprint. Channelling his previous life as a gardener, the German’s love and appreciation of organic sounds permeate the piece, connecting with stark, minimal rhythmic structures to form a rich, precise tapestry. The spirit of the ‘floor never strays through, leading from the dreamy, rolling groove of ‘Marble Star’, through the atmospheric, tweaked-out electro of ‘Ava’ and the Sprinkles-styled, fathomless bass line exploration on ‘Nightlife’. Executed with the most acute eye for detail and the standard, gorgeous artwork from resident illustrator Stefan Marx, Yoyogi Park is another piece that’ll never tire.
