The mercurial Jorge Velez (formerly Professor Genius) returns to Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S imprint for this fascinating suite of Fairlight CMI computer synthesis. Made only with samples of the ’80s Fairlight and Arturia’s recent Microbrute, Animals Disk recreates nature through processing- a bizarrely beautiful Ambient of bird calls, and wind chimes, 8-bit squall and primitive digital rhythms. Unlike anything either producer or label have ever released. A right-on celebration of this pioneering instrument.
