Strut, once more, delve deep into territories previously undiscovered (at least here in Blighty) with this sixteen track collection of ‘Soul, AOR and Disco in Hawaii, 1979-1985’. Good time jazz-funk is just what the doctor ordered here, as the influence of U.S boogie funk dons Tower Of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire and Parliament collide in the gentle Hawaiian Island wind, creating what the locals called hapa haole music (“half Hawaiian, half Caucasian”). Expect soaring string drenched Disco, sun-blushed, lilting Yacht rock fit for the Balearic floors, and glossy, chugging funk.
