Nik Dawson aka Bookworms has been part of the L.I.E.S story since the early days. Here is his debut album, landing on Bank Records NYC, the new label from fellow L.I.E.S. producer Entro Senestre. Xenophobe is a fully loaded, diverse seven-track double LP of gauzy 4/4 beats, frantic minimal techno, and deeply soulful atmospheres. Built from processes dating back to 2008, Xenophobe shows Dawson as master of the modular; coaxing magnetic loops and throbbing rhythms in a fashion that has Bleep.com very excited indeed. Think Rob Hood’s Floorplan project colliding with the sweet Balearica of the Mood Hut sound and you’re halfway there.
