London-based techno heavyweight Blawan rolls out his third installment of his own Ternesc imprint with a typified exercise in barren, modular-led techno spread across four cuts of the Communicat 1022 EP. Somewhat more restrained than the previous two outings, although this is far from the producer going soft, instead here we’re immersed in droning, metallic sound environments punctuated by rubbery basslines and chittering detailing, moving from the tripped-out ‘Say What You Want To Say’ through the more sinister ‘Rubber Industries’ with its choir-like vocal call. Flipside cut ‘Lit Up Communicat’ lays the dub on thick, keeping the beat in check with a cold, metallic stab, whilst ‘Marga’ takes aim at the main room contingent with its thunderous, rolling mass and perpetual energy running the show.
