Jan St. Werner, a well-respected artist and musician known for his solo compositions, his work with Mouse On Mars, and his conceptual art pieces. Here he takes pride of place in the Thrill Jockey catalogue for a rhythmic, gripping new work. As with Mouse on Mars (and St. Werner solo material) expect the unexpected. This free-floating new LP, drifts into playful sonic-collage, digital-electronica, broken jazz music (think Jan Jelinek), freaked-computer driven-folk music (see, Leafcutter John), abstract rhythm pieces. Somehow, it manages to hold together – expertly, beautifully.
