Garage legend Zed Bias ups the tempo for his first 12” on dBridge’s Exit Records. The footwork-indebted ‘Driftin’ is seriously smooth. Helped along by a gorgeous, soulful vocal from Zoe Violet, its glassy chords go down like honey, and the push/pull of sirens in the background adds a little tension to proceedings. ‘Fever’ revels in breaking things up a bit, with jackhammer drums and a pained vocal stab. The drop, when it comes, sounds like the world’s most intense game of Pong. True to its name, ‘Hipbounce’ is the best floor-filler here, a funky hybrid cut set to inspire any number of mad dance moves.
