Brighton-based label Donky Pitch (Lockah, The Range) welcomes Joseph Petersen, a 17-year-old producer from New Orleans. While his father is a well-respected jazz musician, Joseph is an experimental producer who appeared on last year’s Blacklink Sound Vol. 1 compilation. His Wishbone EP is, in the best possible way, a difficult listen. The cover art shows a circular saw cutting through sheet metal – a warning, perhaps, for the faint-hearted. As a litmus test of sorts, the industrial horror of the title track is the most abrasive thing here. The rest of the EP is more beat-driven but no less ominous, piling on glossy synths, IDM breakbeats and sheets of white noise.
