Room 40 provide the latest platform for Chris Abrahams' avant-orchestral manoeuvers in the drone experiments. The album flits between classic composition and downbeat field recordings (with an early blistering exercise in noise restraint to keep ya on your toes) while in keeping with a modern classical vibe akin to Erased Tapes it has a seductive quality that's rather Thursday Afternoon style Eno, nothing much happening at times but enough sounds to occupy the background they are allowed to develop within.
