Chicago duo Tensei collates four varied cuts for the Hotbox Session vol. 1. Born out of a slew of sweaty studio sessions between 09’ – ’10, here sees the duo draw on a range of styles without taking their crosshairs off the ‘floor, getting off to a steady start on the appropriately titled, key-infused ‘Slow Burn’, setting up the more 80’s indebted boogie buzz of ‘Impossibility’. Next up, ‘Giant City’ takes things more dramatic, with its delicate ivory notes and grand, sweeping strings, whilst ‘Too Familiar’ ends on a classy, soulful deep house groove, offering hints of Theo Parish in places with strings and jazzy touches in abundance.
