Two great remixes of Berlin-based Brit producer South London Ordnance’s Tor EP, on his own Aery Metals imprint. SLO’s sound is a raw, heavy take on big room techno, often with a post-punk tinge. It proves fertile ground for remixes. Truss’ edit of ‘Bind’ steers relatively close to the original, but unsurprisingly amplifies the more abrasive aspects, with the background static turned way up and the bassline given new life. CW/A is a new live project from Clockwork and Avatism, and their remix of ‘Tor’ is much more of an overhaul. Built around a series of sudden pivots, it casts the original as a constantly evolving organism, eventually crowned with a mournful rave horn.
