The full-length offering from space age electro unit Mikron for the impeccable CPU imprint. Delving deep into the stratosphere Mikron set controls for the outer edges of a science fiction future of cold and austere steely-eyed techno. Warning Score is chock full of saturated drums and gloopy acid basslines. While the emphasis is on the dancefloor – ‘Ask Me’ is a slice of refined machine funk, while the darker ‘Black Sands’ is driven by a jittery aqueous pulse – there’s also some more contemplative IDM fare nestled in there, like the Aphex-ian ‘Perspective’.

Other than their sound palette, the duo’s main strength is their grasp of melody – they feed in great hooks from unexpected angles as if through a mincing machine. An album wrapped up in mystery and intrigue akin to classic Dopplereffekt or Lego Feet. With Warning Score, Mikron cement themselves as modern pioneers of the electro sound and place themselves in the ranks of producers and labels pushing the sound FWD from DMX Krew and Gesloten Cirkel to labels such as Get The Balance Right! and Abstract Acid.
