The Field returns to show everyone how a proper techno LP should sound. Whilst only six tracks long, The Follower does the damage in true to form style. Cascading acid lines, motorik drum machines and hypnotic peak time breakdowns aplenty. Not letting the tempo drop too low the sounds on display perfectly switch between slick chord heavy dub techno a la Raise The Dead to more reverb-drenched washes such as Soft Streams and Pink Sun which loops a catchy vocal hook over a fizzing acid line and flies through its ten-minute duration in what feels like seconds. Whilst each track would go off in the right DJs hands, the overall feeling is of a real journey when played from start to finish, just this one goes at a pace that will have you wanting to get up and move throughout its duration. Elements of all the greats shine through from Basic Channel to Juan Atkins and Wolfgang Voigt and The Follower perfectly sets The Field up to join the ranks of these classic techno producers. Outstanding.
