Queen of the NYC art-punk/no-wave/disco-not-disco sound, Lizzie Mercier Descloux is treated to a trio of deluxe Light in The Attic Reissues in the Spring of 2016, and we can all be very grateful for that. Here is the third Lizzie album, Zulu Rock, apparently inspired by African folk music mixed with 80's French pop. Where last album Mambo Nassau was recorded in Paris (because of Apartheid), Zulu Rock was cut in a Jo’Berg studio with a bumper cast list of South African guest musicians getting in on the fun. Pressed up on Yellow splatter wax, remastered from the original tapes and features an essay by “Punk Professor” Vivien Goldman, interviewing the key players of this ultra-vivid document in pan-Global PUNK-FUNK.
