Eleven tracks of guitars, cello, and clarinet and synth from debut Moshi Moshi artist, Scottish composer Anna Meredith. Despite being her debut record, the Edinburgh based performer has a rich recent collaborative history with previous work alongside These New Puritans, James Blake, Seb Rochford, judge on BBC Young Musician of The Year alongside Goldie, and she is a former composer-in-residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Varmints nods to these worlds of classical and electronics, but also chimes with the percussive ring of Moondog, the loop-riddled house of Four Tet, and even screaming Pixies-like alt rock.
