TOP OST imprint Mondo deliver the goods once again with this score for Cédric Jimenez’s, retro-noir thriller, The Connection (a Gallic revision of William Friedkin’s classic Gene Hackman starring, The French Connection, 1971). A fascinating composite of the old and the new, the tracks here exude a Francophile cool, très bien!. The 2xLP set features music from The Velvet Underground, Blondie, Townes Van Zandt, Serge Gainsbourg and much more, alongside new artists such as Lykke Li who belts out Spector-sound homage, ‘Jerome’. Bleep.com are not sure it could get cooler than this. Handsomely packaged, as ever from Mondo.
