Ghostly International release a new album from Copenhagen’s Choir of Young Believers. The foundations of Grasque are a series of loops, and sample collages composed by band leader Jannis Noya Makrigiannis following the end of a long tour promoting their last album, 2012’s Rhine Gold. These beats were developed into full arrangements, covering smoky R&B, noirish jazz, L.A. soft rock, U.K. sophisti-pop, and a manner of other styles within dance and experimental music. It’s a musical melting pot, but Makrigiannis’s songwriting and vocals tie the record together.
