Though the group are an accomplished live band, Colour Theory sees Submotion Orchestra focus more on detailed, dynamic production, giving a greater sense of space and atmosphere to their recordings. The album draws on hip hop, garage, house, and post-dubstep to achieve its vibe, with collaborations from Andrew Ashong and Royce Wood Jr. giving a greater sense of variety.
