Lightstorm (sometimes stylised Lite Storm) was a U.S. cult group who produced several LPs of what one might term ‘spiritual rock and roll’ throughout the 1970s. Helmed by the enigmatic duo of Johnima and Kalassu, Lightstorm’s music brought the high spirituality of Alice Coltrane to a kitschy and distinctly new-age take on soft-rock and synth-based pop. A rather unique act who passed many by at the time, Drag City's Creation compilation allows a generation with fresh interest in the sounds of new-age the chance to reappraise Lightstorm’s work.
