ZULI, an experimental electronic musician from Cairo, makes his debut for Lee Gamble’s UIQ label. Despite the newness of his name, ZULI has been a major player in Cairo’s little-seen underground scene for a while as part of the promoters bringing acts like Ben UFO and Aurora Halal to the city. The Bionic Ahmed EP is bass-heavy and sounds somewhat broken, full of slow motion grooves, disembodied vocals, and mechanical hisses.
