Berlin-based producer Recondite (aka Lorenz Brunner) returns to Hotflush with two tracks of lonely night drive techno. Since 2014’s Caldera, his last EP for Scuba’s imprint, Recondite has released two LPs and a string of EPs for the likes of Innervisions and Acid Test. His tracks always aim for the heart as well as the feet – it’s quite amazing, the amount of emotion he can extract from so few ingredients. ‘Phalanx’ is built around these mournful bass synths, its drums constantly shifting and framing the glowing melody from different angles. ‘Warg’ is more insistent, with a subtly funky bassline and little flickers of trance entering into the mix.
