Mancunian techno / noise stalwart Samuel Kerridge continues to carry the torch for the hardened, Birmingham industrial sound originated by luminaries Regis, Surgeon and Female with Fatal Light Attraction on Downwards. The piece stems from a brutal live performance at Berlin’s esteemed Atonal festival where the artist collaborated with Andrej Boleslavský and Mária Júdová to create music using lights and live, on-the-fly coding. The results are scathing and uncompromising, running a gauntlet of battering industrial blows, corrosive detritus and churning, bellowing sub-bass drones in a sort of Whitehouse meets Maurizio Bianchi meets Ancient Methods style. Definitely not for the faint hearted.
