This one sees Keysound take a turn into deeptech, a scene that’s been billed as a successor to UK funky. East London producer Truce has released on deeptech labels such as AudioWhore and SOTU Recordings, but this is his first effort for Keysound. It feels rooted in the contemporary bass scene, but you can follow certain threads all the way back to classic Chicago house. Both tracks are strongly urban, yet deep and super soulful. ‘Be There’ draws maximum emotion out of the briefest of vocal samples, while the bass dictates the rhythm and adds some welcome funk. ‘Uhh’ plays a similar trick, with laser sharp drums and a gruff bassline. This one will burrow deep inside your soul and map itself to your contours.
