Massive and ultra-timely vinyl reissue of one of the most important D&B records of all time. Electronic music is currently in an exciting tangle with itself; deconstructing club music in new and vivid ways, often structured along Junglist/D&B rhythm maps (think Mumdance, Logos, Mr Mitch, Rabit, Lee Gamble et. al). Semtex then, is ripe for re-evaluation. The first album by Bristol musician Matt Elliott, it was released in 1996 under the name The Third Eye Foundation and released on Elliott's own personal record label, Linda's Strange Vacation with the support of Domino recordings. It’s a chaos of darkside guitars, frantic drum machines and brutalist noise samplism, overdriven bass grumble and metallic synth-heat. Wild record that still sounds good two decades on(!)
