Soundman Chronicles boss Parris creeps out of the shadows for his solo debut EP on Bristol record store cum label Idle Hands. Whilst previously only appearing on a split release with Wen on Tempa, the quality underpinning both cuts on this slab makes us wonder what he must have in his locker, starting with ‘Burr’ which masterfully balances soft, wind-like pulsations against tinkered percussion, kinetic bass throbs and a 4/4 punch that drifts in and out of the piece at will. It’s a cut equally suited to the night's opening as it is to the end game after party. B-side employs a similar aesthetic, creating a vast, wide-open space and patiently filling with sparse bass hits, chirps and shimmering metallic texture, giving the feel of an abstracted UK-bass take on Rhythm and Sound’s ‘Imprint’.
