Evangelist is the project of singer-songwriter Gavin Clark and TOYDRUM (aka producers Pablo Clements and James Griffith, formerly of UNKLE). Clark was a relatively unsung singer-songwriter who played in the folk bands Sunhouse and Clayhill before he died in 2015 aged just 46 years old. Before his death he started working on the Evangelist album, a concept record about a flawed preacher, which was completed by TOYDRUM after he passed. The album features additional contributions from Shane Meadows collaborator Ludovico Eunaldi, Warren Ellis of the Bad Seeds, and Gavin Clark’s son Michael.
